John Russell and Edward Robinson return to Ashtead in Surrey to catch up with Liz and Ian Dobson and their two children Phoebe and Fred.
They had bought a rural idyll with grand plans for a big extension to accommodate their growing family. Unfortunately the house had been plagued with hidden secrets and their dream turned into a nightmare. The final straw came when they had to move out due to structural issues – their house had become too dangerous to live in. When the team stepped in, earlier in the year, with Melinda Messenger and Dan Lobb, they had wanted to find out how this situation had unravelled and come up with a way to ease the stress.
Ed decided to give the couple a new bedroom and Dan visited a property developer and architect to find out why it’s so crucial to get a survey done when buying a property.
Months later, Ed is returning with John to see if the family has been spurred into further action. Armed with ideas and motivation, they want to help the family make more headway with the refurbishment of their Victorian cottage.
