Shabir and Sajida wanted to create the perfect family home; refurbishing two bathrooms, installing a new boiler and building a single storey extension, but the build ran away with them and they’ve been left with a half-finished house.
For the last 7 months, the 6 members of the Fazil family have been left living next door, crammed into Shabir’s mum’s house with the girls sharing a bedroom with their grandmother and the boys sleeping on the living room floor.
Builder Martin Gonzalez and designer Ed Robinson set about fitting in a very complicated kitchen, while also decorating that room all with the view of giving the family the boost they need to finish this project. We also help the family clear some of the build clutter from their garden and Melinda and Ed take Sajida shopping for design inspiration.
But with kitchen measurements that aren’t right and so many units for such a cramped space, will Martin and the builders get this job done in time..?
