After moving to the coast three years ago in search of a seaside idyll, Joan’s been left with that sinking feeling after a series of unfinished home improvements have turned her coastal cottage into a nautical nightmare.
62 year old Joan and her husband Alan moved to their cottage on the coast back in 2012. With a love of all things nautical, they planned on spending their retirement by sea. But their lifelong dream came crashing down when Alan became ill and passed away. And Joan’s struggled with home improvements since...
Builder Martin Gonzalez and designer Ed Robinson set about making her home ship shape again. Martin sources some reclaimed pine flooring and patches up her bedroom and wardrobes, and Ed transforms this room into an Artist’s Garrett for craft-mad Joan to relax in and knit, sew and get inspiration – with the centrepiece being a huge Van Gogh themed feature wall behind the bed, made using digitally printed wallpaper.
What will crafty Joan make of this new creatively minded space – and does she think her late husband Alan would have given his seal of approval...?
