The dream was to extend their kitchen to have a communal space to eat and socialise together. But the builder only managed half the job before he disappeared. He put up the walls and a frame for the roof but then left Gordon, with no building expertise to try and get the structure into a reasonable state. Now the Lewis family have run out of money and the lack of family space has had an isolating impact on family relationships. The children stay in their rooms and don’t invite friends around, Lisa sits in the car and doesn’t want to go in the house and Gordon feels guilty and sad that he has let his family down.
The team turning up is a ray of hope in a desperate situation but fixing the roof for our build team proves to be a bigger job than anyone expected. So the team need to focus fast to find another way to improve the family’s living conditions. Laura gets to the bottom of how the unfinished build has effected the family, Dan takes a trip to Citizens Advice to see what steps can be taken to stop a builder underquoting, Edward takes Gordon shopping and there’s an unexpected surprise that puts smiles on everyone’s faces.
